Borussia Dortmund to keep Thomas Meunier despite Barcelona and Manchester United interest

Despite rumors suggesting Thomas Meunier would transfer to Barcelona or Manchester United this summer, Borussia Dortmund has no intention of moving the player. Sebastian Kehl, the club’s sporting director, claims as much. The Belgian, he claimed, is a guest at the club.

Right-back has been recognized as Barcelona’s trouble spot, thus the club is determined to find a replacement before the summer transfer market ends the following week. The only natural right-back at the club is Sergino Dest, but the technical department at Camp Nou has determined that he is no longer needed and has placed him on the market.

Cesar Azpilicueta, the captain of Chelsea, had been Xavi Hernandez’s top pick, but that substitution was judged impractical. Meunier, a Belgian international with experience at Club Brugge, Paris Saint-Germain, and Dortmund, had been suggested as a replacement, but it now appears that closing the transaction would be very difficult. Despite the player’s desire to move to Barcelona, this has happened.
