According to Diario Sport, Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has requested that the team make one last attempt to complete the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona. Tuchel, who has experience working with Aubameyang, is in need of a center forward.
Chelsea increased their bid to as much as €20 million for the Gabonese player, who switched from Arsenal to Barcelona last winter, but the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement. Barcelona would prefer to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but they are prepared to trade him if necessary to meet their financial obligations because they already have Robert Lewandowski as their primary number nine.
In order to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla earlier in the market, Barcelona needed to sell Aubameyang. For lack of a better phrase, they essentially have Chelsea over a barrel, but they’re not in a rush and want to make sure they get a good deal for Aubameyang. His kind of strikers are hard to come by, and Chelsea is known to have plenty of cash to burn.
